Artspeak a.p.a.s. is a resource developed to share current visual art news, reviews, links and exhibitions with those participating in the Advanced professional art studies program at CAE Degraves St, Melbourne and other interested students.
I feel fascinated by this artists work. Her palette, her play on emotions and experiences. The figures, in rooms.... interior and exteriors. her intimacy almost cinematic. Her work is like a good film to me. I become lost and engaged in the narrative and the handling of paint and colour. Google her painting titled " We work so closely without even knowing it" Her titles are incredible. in summing up if I win tatts I would really love to live everyday with one of her paintings.
Thank you Jo for setting up this artspeak blog. This painting I like, well constructed with figures forming an arrow toward the viewer which then takes the eye back into the picture. Composition set up with platforms indicating formation of interior, and it looks like landscape in the background. Would like to see the actual painting to see the complex visual layers and the circle formation up the left side. I also like the palette and although the figures are static, they seem to shimmer with movement. Betsy
Yes! Thank you Betsy, Your observations are interesting, It is as if you have deconstructed the composition in a meaningful way. I also really agree with you, to have an opportunity to stand in front of this work, would bring new layers and depth. I am about to travel and collect new information to update this blog on my return in mid October. Cheers Jo
